Liu Kongxi is the best one of those who can use tempera technique skillfully. He painted a lot of realistic images of Zhiqing, the educated youth in Cultural Revolution by tempera skill. Liu’s works have become a mark of realistic paintings in current Chinese art field. Zhiqing years is unforgettable memory for those such as Liu Kongxi, whose young stories took place at that time of excited countryside life. This Youth Chronicle is one of Liu Kongxi’s Zhiqing series. The story of the painting was told by a young girl dressed in Zhiqing style uniform, which was the artist’s reminiscence of his Zhiqing life. The tempera effect of the picture brings the Renaissance religious paintings to viewers’ mind, which sublimes the story of the artist himself taken place in his past times. The Zhiqing life has become unexhausted source of artistic creative of Liu Kongxi.
