Luo Zhongli touched almost all Chinese people in 1980s for his famous oil painting, the Father. Today, Luo had become a godfather of China contemporary art. He founded and directed the famous Tank Warehouse art zone in southwest China recently. Luo gave young avant-garde artists stably support in his place, which had become an important cradle of Chinese young artists. The title of this work, Xinyue, maybe the name of the young girl; it also could be a symbol of youth life, because Xinyue in Chinese means crescent symbolizing a new life. This painting was worked in 1982, which was thought as the stylistic continuation of the Father. Luo’s most early works focused on the countryside life, the artist represented the hardships of farmers with humanity spirit. In the works of this period, Luo Zhongli endowed his works a realistic sense with the harmony between human and nature.
