Qianlong Six-Character Mark
With rounded sides rising from a spreading foot and encircled by two ribs below the shoulder,tapering into a cylindrical neck,on either side of which are a pair of lavender glazed open work handles resembling stylised archaic dragons,beneath a lavender lipped rim,covered over all in a rich and even copper-red flambé glaze,extending to the interior with lavender splashes applied to the body all with a fine crackle,the underside glaze of patchy brown and beige. Incised six character sealmark of Qianlong and of the period,1736 - 1795.

Two other comparable vases are illustrated by A.W. Bahr in Old Chinese Porcelain and Works of Art in China,London 1911,pl.CVII formerly in the collection of F.E. Wilkinson.
