The masterpiece by artist Huangzhou name¡°Huangtengdecaoyuan¡±(Gaiety in the Grassland) was transacted at RMB 128.8 million, sharply refreshing this artist¡¯s auction record, topping the list of Chinese paintings on auction, making it as the only one that exceeds hundreds of millions threshold in transaction in this autumn sales season.

7:45 PM, Dec 2nd witnessed the transaction hammer of this painting, starting from 13 million, 30 million from 1 buyer, 50 million after another and 60 million third. The call of prices scaled up ,then 35 rounds of bidding took 8 minutes, finally hammered at 112 million, reaching 128.8 million in RMB.

According to Zhao Xu, executive of Poly Auction, this piece of painting is the best collected outside of museums, which has drawn great attention and attracted 60 prospective buyers. The buyer who successfully bid it usually focuses on contemporary paintings; it is highly probably the first time to collect Huangzhou¡¯s work. The trend forecasts that the market has gained momentum and started to be warm.
