Long Liyou has been trained as an undergraduate student and then as a graduate student in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and his works has gained him a lot of awards in all kinds of exhibitions. He is famous for his realistic oil paintings, which is really unusual for a contemporary artist. The Across the Haolibao River depicts the normal life of a normal Mongolian man. He gets up early to feed his horses on the grass land outside. They are across the Haolibao river now. His horses are eating grasses or drinking water from the river. Some of them are walking nearby their shepherd, while others stay a litter further. The shepherd is on the back of a beautiful white horse, and a lovely foal is walking beside them. All of the horses are healthy and well-bred. The grass land that they are walking across and the silent mountains behind them make this painting full of the sense of peacefulness. One could easily see that they are enjoying the happiness of life, and it is the happiness of these humble creatures that would make us deeply touched. It is quite easy for us to feel the warmness within the painting, and this very sense of warmness could be seldom found in the contemporary society which is becoming cooler and cooler.
