The early works of Guo Wei had once been influenced by He Duoling deeply. He began to get rid of this kind of influence gradually since 1990s. In his works there comes a kind of surrealism style, he indicates the life status with red figures which looks like animal flesh. The Three Still-lives in Room was created in the early of 1990s. We did not feel comfortable when looked at it, the so-called still life looks just like flesh. If we look further at it, we will find that two parts of the still life are really the human flesh, one is a baby¡¯s head, and the other is human body. In the right side of the picture, there hangs another part of the still life, which looks like a bloody animal skin. Staying in the black background, these three red objects appear even more striking and bloody. To this work, the meaning of concept is more significant than the meaning of narration.
