Born in Putian, Fujian Province, Chen Yujun has been committed to introducing the memory of the hometown of overseas Chinese in the south, the elements of clan and family into his works, and discussing the concepts of family, personal identity and space in the context of immigrants handed down from generation to generation. Therefore, his works have distinctive regional cultural characteristics and strong local feelings. The 'temporary family' series, its theme is the increasingly severe cultural conflicts and fragmented and constantly changing identity problems that individuals must face in the context of globalization.
In Temporary family - New York garden (Lot 1110), Chen Yujun deliberately creates a hazy and ambiguous, plausible and illusory atmosphere in his paintings, trying to emphasize the alien identity of the residents through such a specific space setting, highlighting the cultural psychology of no place to live and no sense of belonging in the disordered, free and broken color stack, and conveying a visual narrative with sociological significance.
